Product Engineering Technician ll (Consumer Electronics)

I. Summary of Job:
The Product Engineering Technician will work as part of the Consumer Electronics Engineering team to support product engineering processes, parts compatibility verification, test and diagnostic applications and repair processes, implementation of consistent diagnostic, trouble shooting and repair methodologies throughout Asurion supply chain depots and stores. They will report results of their observations and resolve issues.
The ideal candidate will have experience in PC repair and refurbishment, knowledge component and subassembly qualification testing and verification requirements in either computer hardware, tablets or gaming systems. Familiarity with substitution and alternate part compatibility testing and methodology. Support process development and generate process documentation and work instructions ensuring consistency throughout repair supply chain.
This position will support product engineers in analyzing the effectiveness of repair processes, ensuring quality of parts supplied and engineering solutions are implemented.
II. Duties & Responsibilities:
Support and verify engineering developments and assist with deployment of repair processes
Approve and maintain repair process equipment tools.
Perform qualification processes to validate substitutable and alternate parts
Research OEM service and support information related to products and disseminate that information when it can help drive repair effectivity.
Prepare all required repair process documentation and work instructions.
Support New Product Introduction processes and report on engineering readiness at NPI reviews.
Recognize problems that need further investigation.
Document results of root cause analysis investigations and recommend potential solutions.
Train support staff on set up, operation and maintenance of repair process equipment and process work instructions.
Make good technical decisions and complete tasks & assignments under direction.
Escalate technical issues to engineering staff.
III. Skills/Knowledge:
Expertise in product, test and/or process engineering, with specific experience in computer or consumer electronic industry. Preferably with service and repair background.
Practical experience in creation, deployment and ongoing management of process work instructions and product requirement documents.
IV. Education and Experience Guidelines:
2-year technical or Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or process technology or 3-4 years electrical/electronic experience.
