Working at uBreakiFix by Asurion means combining hands-on tech repair with frontline customer service in a commission-earning retail environment. Retail Sales Experts diagnose and repair smartphones, tablets, and other devices, sell protection plans and accessories, and earn hourly pay plus uncapped commission — no coding background required. uBreakiFix operates nearly 700 locations across the U.S., and new hires go through a paid five-week training program before working independently on devices.

At uBreakiFix by Asurion, Retail Sales Experts are the face of tech care, solving real problems for real people every day. From restoring a customer’s phone that tracks their blood sugar to getting a small business owner’s device back online before the workday starts, experts help customers reconnect to what matters most.

The work is fast-paced and hands-on, with a strong focus on helping people when technology lets them down. With Asurion supporting more than 200 million customers worldwide, every interaction has ripple effects, shaping how people experience technology and driving the company’s continued growth.

What Is the Culture Like at uBreakiFix?

Asurion is a global tech care company on a mission to help people live life uninterrupted. Whether repairing devices, replacing them, or offering protection and support, the company focuses on innovation that makes tech care simple and personable.

The same commitment shows up behind the counter. Across our nearly 700 uBreakiFix stores, Retail Experts describe a culture built on communication, collaboration, and trust – backed by the resources and benefits of a global company.

“I’ve worked in big-box retail and small franchises,” says Jeanette, a store leader. “What’s different here is communication and support. We’re constantly connected – morning huddles, group chats, or traveling to help other stores. It really feels like a team.”

Experts collaborate across districts, sharing real-time tips and solutions throughout the day. When one store gets busy, nearby teams step in to help. Sometimes they organize “repair parties” to clear backlogs. The work moves fast, but no one moves alone.

Is uBreakiFix a Good Place to Work?

Yes, uBreakiFix by Asurion can be a strong fit for people who enjoy fast-paced retail, clear performance goals, hands-on problem-solving, and helping customers face-to-face. Asurion has earned Great Place To Work® Certification for multiple consecutive years, reflecting its continued focus on the employee experience.

The role combines customer service, sales, and tech repair, so employees balance several priorities throughout the day. If you’re motivated by measurable goals, uncapped commission, learning new technical skills, and working closely with customers and teammates, there’s a lot to like. If you prefer a slower-paced role with little customer interaction or few performance metrics, this may not be the best fit.

What Does a uBreakiFix Retail Sales Expert Actually Do?

Retail Sales Experts are equal parts problem-solvers, customer advocates, and trusted advisors. The role goes far beyond simple repairs. It's about diagnosing issues, educating customers, and connecting them to solutions that make their technology work better for their lives.

Here’s what day-to-day looks like:

Serve customers. Listen, empathize, and turn stressful moments into positive experiences.
Solve tech problems. Perform hands-on repairs on smartphones, tablets, and other tech devices, often saving the day for customers who rely on their tech.
Sell Asurion's solutions. Go beyond the fix by offering accessories, protection plans, and services that help prevent the next tech crisis.
Earning commission. Experts earn hourly pay plus uncapped commission – every repair, every sale, every happy customer contributes directly to their success.
Collaborating and learning. Work with fellow techs, store leads, and district managers to solve challenges, share insights, and master new skills.

Ashley, a district leader who joined after 18 years in wireless retail, puts it simply: “It’s easier to teach someone to fix something than to teach genuine customer service. The best experts are people – they know how to connect, explain, and make things right.”

What Can You Earn as a uBreakiFix Retail Sales Expert?

Retail Sales Experts earn an hourly base rate plus uncapped commission on repairs, accessories, and protection plans. Top performers often double their hourly pay through commission.

Compensation varies by location, so candidates should check individual job postings for the most current pay information.

What Is a Typical Day Like at uBreakiFix?

A typical day at uBreakiFix mixes customer conversations, hands-on repairs, sales, and team problem-solving. A morning might start with a team huddle and move into screen repairs, battery replacements, customer consultations, and troubleshooting throughout the day.

New Retail Sales Experts complete a five-week onboarding program that combines virtual learning with in-store practice. Store leads like Jeanette take a “tell, show, and let them try” approach, helping new hires build confidence by working on real repairs with real customers.

“We have people who’ve never soldered before, and they learn that skill here,” Jeanette says. “It takes curiosity, patience, and a passion for helping customers. But anyone willing to learn can grow here.”

The pace is quick, the expectations are clear, and the initiative goes a long way. Charles, a store lead, describes it this way. “You run your own business inside the store. The more solutions you provide – repairs, accessories, tech care – the more you earn.”

How Does Working at uBreakiFix Compare to Working at Other Retail?

If you’ve worked in wireless retail like AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, many of the skills you’ve already developed transfer directly to a uBreakiFix Retail Sales Expert role. Both environments involve customer service, device knowledge, sales goals, and helping customers find the right solutions.

The biggest difference is the hands-on repair component. At uBreakiFix, Retail Sales Experts don’t just talk about technology—they diagnose problems, perform repairs, and build deeper technical knowledge while continuing to work directly with customers. That makes the role a natural next step for someone who enjoys wireless retail but wants more variety in their day-to-day work and the opportunity to learn technical repair skills.

Ashley, a district leader who joined Asurion after 18 years in wireless retail, says: “It’s easier to teach someone to fix something than to teach genuine customer service. The best experts are people—they know how to connect, explain, and make things right.”
