When Dhae Cabello joined Asurion through a staffing agency 15 years ago, she had a high school diploma and a job as a Production Operator. Today, she's a Quantitative Analyst building data dashboards that help leaders make better decisions. Her path there? Anything but linear.

Dhae's career has zigzagged across Asurion: from the frontline to an office role, she once only dreamed about, from Operations to Technology, from manual reporting to programming and advanced analytics. Along the way, she earned six Top Performer awards, went back to school for her BS in Computer Engineering, and discovered skills she didn't know she had.

"Looking back, my journey shows how a career at Asurion doesn't have to follow a straight line," Dhae says. "I started on the shop floor and eventually moved into technology. It’s something I never imagined would happen when I first joined."

The role that changed everything

After several years as a Production Operator, Dhae was chosen for a new role: Enclosure Expediter. She didn't even apply for it—leadership saw her potential and extended the offer.

"That position became my training ground," she says. "It opened my eyes to what I was capable of and prepared me for the career I have today."

The move from frontline operations to technology was transformative. "It was completely unexpected, but it changed my life. I went from the shop floor to a corporate role, which had always been one of my dreams."

It also taught her something important about Asurion's culture: "It showed me early on that Asurion looks at potential, not just titles."

Her experience highlights an important part of Asurion’s culture—one that supports nonlinear career paths, trusting employees to grow, explore, and build careers that evolve over time.

From there, Dhae was promoted twice, eventually becoming a Senior Operator. But she was already thinking about what was next.

Taking a chance on technology

In 2015, while working full-time, Dhae enrolled in college and earned her BS in Computer Engineering.

With her degree in hand, Dhae made her boldest move: she applied for a Developmental Assignment with Asurion's Technology team. The program gave her a chance to work as a Junior Business Analyst for a year.

"The biggest surprise was being offered a permanent role on the team afterward," she says. "It showed me that when you take a chance on yourself, new doors really can open."

It didn’t stop there, a few years later Dhae was offered Dhae a full-time position as a Business Data Analyst. A year and a half later, she was promoted to her current role.

"When I applied for the Technology trainee program, no one questioned my non-traditional background," Dhae recalls. "Instead, they encouraged me to try."

Building tools that make work easier

Today, as a Quantitative Analyst supporting Product Analytics, Dhae turns complex data into clear, actionable insights. She builds Power BI dashboards—interactive visuals that help teams quickly understand business performance and decide what to do next.

One moment from her trainee days still motivates her: "I created a dashboard to help Operations track daily performance. It ended up being displayed on floor monitors and showcased during site visits—including visits from our senior leaders. I was only a trainee, but the appreciation I received motivated me deeply."

Her Operations background turned out to be an advantage. "I used to create manual reports, so building Power BI dashboards felt familiar." But she's also learned completely new skills, including programming languages and advanced analytical tools.

What keeps her here

Nearly 15 years in, Dhae stays at Asurion for reasons beyond her paycheck. "I want to give back to Asurion for everything it has given me and my family," she says.

She also appreciates the work-life balance, which is important when you're a full-time parent to 10 shih tzus. "It's the culture that makes a huge difference."

Her advice to anyone considering a career pivot? "You don't have to stay in one lane. If there's a role that interests you, prepare, ask questions, take the training available, and go for it. Leaders here appreciate initiative."

Dhae's story isn't unique at Asurion. Many employees have careers that move across teams, functions, and even countries. "What matters most is your willingness to learn and grow," she says. "The company gives you the space—and the support—to shape your own path, even if it looks completely different from where you started."
