ERG World Tour: Remote
10-Apr-2024
If you’ve been following along with our first-ever ERG World Tour then you already know Black Employees Supporting Talent (BEST) and Women’s Initiative Network (WIN). You’ve learned about how these groups along with their allies have dedicated their time at Asurion to building equal opportunities for everyone interested. Our next ERG group is focused on the fastest-growing sub-group of employees - remote employees.

United by one common goal, our ERGs are dedicated to empowering employees, promoting partnerships, inspiring inclusion, and building community within Asurion. Our Remote ERG uses the same methods of engagement but is designed to enhance collaboration, inclusion, and career development between distributed employees. Our Remote ERG mission is to make sure that our remote employee population has the same access to opportunity, career growth, and overall company visibility as those who work in an office. And, arguably the most important task for this group is ensuring that even though employees may not be physically included in our place of work every day, they can still experience what we all love so much - our culture.
For those unfamiliar, we are a global company with 19,000 employees spanning 84 offices and operation centers located in 17 different countries. Of our 19,000 employees, more than 20% work remotely from home or “in the field” driving to and from customer appointments. The opportunity to bridge the gap for our remote employees is something near and dear to the hearts of the members and allies who participate in the ERG. Vice-chair and Sr. Manager of Risk, Scott Strayer has been at the forefront of Remote’s growth and development efforts helping our growing population of remote workers understand the complex organizational structure of Asurion, and bridging introductions along the way.
Members have been introduced to remote Vice Presidents and learned about their career journey, their triumphs, and struggles, wins and losses - all to build a cohesive remote community. Introducing remote VP’s gives members a chance to network with hiring managers who, too hire remote talent. And on the other hand, members have the chance to share feedback with remote leaders on how they can better serve and include remote employees.
While Remote remains largely focused on connecting distributed employees with our tightly woven culture and expansive career paths, they are also an important resource here to help our remote employees get the most out of their work day. Once a month, ERG leaders host Tech Tuesday - a virtual event focused on bringing tech tips and tricks to employees to enhance their everyday work-life. Topics range anywhere from “how to ask for help” - leveraging online service tools to request help to “all things Zoom” - knowing how to use Zoom at its highest capability. Every Tech-Tuesday attendees can expect to hear from a subject-matter expert on the allotted topic - introducing employees to other employees while teaching them a new skill at the same time.
Wrapping it all up, making sure our remote teammates feel as much a part of the gang as those of us in the office is super important to us. Everyone deserves to feel included, heard, and valued, no matter where they're logging in from. After all, a team that feels together, grows together. And that's what we're all about—growing, learning, and succeeding, hand in hand, screen to screen.
Stay tuned for our next ERG World Tour feature coming in May!
