At the heart of Asurion are our Employee Resource Groups (ERGS), one of the greatest tools and resources for our people. We are proud to say we have 11 employee-run ERGs, each with the mission of helping our employees better understand and appreciate team members for their unique styles, perspectives, and ideas. 

While ERG members represent various communities within Asurion, all are welcome. In fact, joining an ERG allows employees to cultivate an environment of teamwork at every level. With that knowledge and awareness, we become better teammates and strengthen the entire Asurion commUnity.

EWTBEST1

BEST stands for Black Employees Supporting Talent and is one of Asurion’s first and largest ERGs. With over 2000 members nationwide, their goal is to foster networking, professional development, mentoring and leadership opportunities and the overall advancement of Black employees at Asurion. In addition, an important goal of BEST is to strengthen the bonds between Asurion and local African American communities.

Building the BEST at Asurion. 

At their heart and soul, BESTies are passionate about supporting current and future employees within Asurion. BEST has four focus pillars: professional development, recruiting, employee engagement, and community outreach.  

BEST is engrained within and influences the talent attraction and recruiting practices within Asurion. From recruiting at Historical Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), to mentoring new interns, and championing the Asurion-Fisk Scholars program, BEST has been instrumental in molding and shaping our diverse approach to talent attraction and recruiting.  

We are passionate about reaching our full potential, and ensuring an inclusive workplace is more than an idea. It is the reality that fuels our success. BEST has been at the forefront of Asurion’s Call to Action for Racial Equity by providing educational resources and campaigning for employee participation. When we spoke to BEST’s executive team it was immediately apparent how passionate and proud, they were of BEST’s involvement and influence on Asurion’s call to action.  

How does BEST support Black employees within Tech? 

All Asurion’s employee resource groups are sponsored by an executive and BEST is sponsored by our Senior, Vice President and Vice President of Product and Technology. With their hands-on engagement in the group, they bring new ways for BEST to support and elevate Asurion’s tech employees. In addition to recruiting, BESTies say that it's the networking and overarching community that comes with being a member of the ERG that is so profound.  

Understanding the gap in representation of black individuals in the technology field, BEST is determined to provide skills pathways and networking opportunities for employees within Asurion and outside of our organization, wherever possible. From partnering with organizations like Girls Who Code and Blacks in Tech there is a clear path forward for how BEST intends to bridge the gap of black representation within tech. And we are proud to be a part of it.  

Outside the walls of Asurion, our work is not done. A few years ago, BEST leaders worked alongside fellow black leaders from 9 other tech companies to form the BERG Consortium. Together, the BERG Consortium’s mission is to build and strengthen a diverse network of black professionals and their allies to support, advance, and elevate the black influence in corporate America. Last year the BEST leadership team led the annual BERG Share - an event where leaders from other ERGs within other companies come together to share ideas, best practices, and brainstorm new ways to engage the talent within their company. 

The BEST is yet to come. 

It’s no secret that here at Asurion we’re passionate about our people. The work of our BEST ERG is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to why we feel that you would be hard-pressed to find a company with a culture as inclusive and people centric as ours. With so much room left to grow, it’s true, the best has yet to come. We are excited to continue to do the work to elevate the experience of Black individuals at Asurion and within the technology community and look forward to continuing to contribute towards meaningful change.
